Well NIKA along with UKC put on a party to remember.
With 201 people attending the 2018 Awards Evening at the Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena, this made the 2018 Awards evening one for the record books, this has been the best attended Awards evening for many years, longer than I can remember.
Families from all over the North & South of Ireland attended along with competitors from the UK Mainland & Scotland making this a magnificent event.
It was set to be a very busy night with the room full to capacity and with 5 x tables of gorgeous awards to be presented to all our top competitors. As the meal was served promptly at 7pm we all got tucked into a gorgeous meal laid on by the staff of the Tullyglass.
Immediately after our dinner we introduced our very own BTCC Driver Chris Smiley who was magnificent as he had been there 10 – 15 years earlier collecting trophies. It was great the time he spent chatting to all the drivers and hopefully rubbing off on some of our smaller up and coming stars.
After all the presentations & a little dancing we moved to our raffle & auction, we raffled all our goods away and then the bidding was to start on our helmet heater and thanks to MR Gary Agnew bidding and winning the bid on this near brought our event to a close. Then came the surprise of the night, MR Francis Conlon who had won the bid last year on BOB the helmet statue and out of the blue Francis told all that he would donate this statue Bob to the highest bidder with all the money raised going to the Angel Wishes Charity. Wow the atmosphere was electric as BOB has held a place in our Paddock all year at the UKC race meetings so no one expected for this to happen. The bidding started and it was apparent from the off that 3 x men were interested, one man that had seen this charity at its best when his son and one of our new competitors was ill and needed and used the services of Angle Wishes, a big well done to the Donnelly family for their support. The outstanding bid of a generous £1500 from MR Kieron Graffin won the bid and it was generosity at its best.
A big thanks to all those people that took part in the running or who had a part to play in this event as it will have been a special one for a long time and will take some beating. Thanks to all and we hope to see you all in 2019!!!!
