As the regional governing body for karting in Northern Ireland, NIKA are able to submit applications to Sport Northern Ireland for drivers to be considered for financial support through the 'Athlete Support Programme'. In order to assess each drivers merit, NIKA has set up a criteria, which each driver must meet before submissions are made to Sports NI.

Due to the number of applications being submitted to SNI, NIKA cannot gaurantee that all applications submitted will be approved by SNI.

In the past few years NIKA have a number of their leading drivers included within the programme:-

Philip Harkness - Rotax Max Super 1 race winner

Wayne Boyd - Super 1 Formula JICA competitor - Formula Ford British Champion - Formula 3 Race Winner
James Irvine - UK Cup Superkart 125 champion
